The Umm Al Nar Power and Water Complex is located in Abu Dhabi City, in Sas Al Nakhel. It generates 1.5 gigawatts of power and 429,000 cubic metres of water per day. The plant has been operating since 2007. Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) owns 60 per cent of the Umm Al Nar plant, with ENGIE and Jera each holding 20 per cent.
It was constructed using GE9FA turbines, making it the first facility in the Gulf region to use GE’s Frame F turbine technology.
