Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can my company take part in an EWEC tender?

All suppliers, contractors, and consultants must complete the pre-qualification process by registering on the Emirates Water and Electricity Company’s electronic platform to be eligible to participate in tenders and procurement requests. To be added to our list of approved suppliers, contractors, and consultants, please register and follow the steps on our eProcurement Portal here.

Our eProcurement Portal offers collaborative, web-based tools that enable efficient sourcing activities between our procurement team and suppliers. This secure platform simplifies and streamlines end-to-end sourcing, reducing the overall time and effort involved. For IWP/IPP/IWPP projects, an Expression of Interest (EOI) will be published and announced publicly, and your company is invited to follow the instructions provided in the EOI.

What steps is your company taking to reduce carbon emissions?

EWEC's commitment to reducing carbon emissions is closely aligned with the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to generate 50% of the country's energy from clean and renewable sources and reduce the carbon footprint of power generation by 70% by 2050. Additionally, the strategy targets improving consumption efficiency by 40% across both individuals and businesses.

Sustainability is at the core of EWEC’s mission, shaping its strategic priorities to ensure a reliable, cost-effective supply of water and electricity while driving innovation in the energy sector. EWEC actively supports the UAE’s national sustainability initiatives, the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036, and the UAE Energy Strategy 2050.

EWEC forecasts a 47% reduction in total carbon emissions from 42 million tonnes per year in 2020 to 22 million tonnes per year in 2030, a major milestone in the UAE’s decarbonisation efforts. This reduction is driven by the country’s transition to renewable energy and low-carbon-intensive technologies, especially in water production. EWEC’s move to nearly emissions-free water production by 2031, supported by the extensive deployment of reverse osmosis technology, along with plans to increase solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity to 10 GW by 2030, are pivotal steps in advancing the UAE's decarbonisation objectives, positioning the nation on a clear path towards achieving its Net Zero by 2050 strategic goals
