      Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) is the sole procurer of water and power within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and beyond, with the mandate to ensure the supply of water and power to consumers. EWEC is part of ADQ, one of the region’s largest holding companies with a diverse portfolio of major enterprises spanning key sectors of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil economy. EWEC was formed in November 2018, succeeding the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Company (ADWEC).

Future RO

The Future Reverse Osmosis (RO) project consists of a standalone greenfield RO seawater desalination plant to be located in Abu Dhabi Emirate. The plant will desalinate up to 273,000 cubic metres per day.

The Future RO project will be the seventh RO water desalination project in EWEC’s portfolio once operational, advancing EWEC’s strategic initiative to decouple power and water generation capacity and supporting the decarbonisation of water and electricity production.

The successful developer or developer consortium will own up to 40% of a special purpose vehicle (SPV), while the remaining equity will be primarily held indirectly by the Abu Dhabi Governmen.
