Initiative aligns with the Year of the Family and reinforces the legacy of the nation’s Founding Father
EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company), a leading company in the integrated planning, purchasing, supply, and system despatch services of water and electricity across the UAE, has donated Family Iftar Boxes to those in need across Abu Dhabi in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and in the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Zayed Humanitarian Day.
Coinciding with Zayed Humanitarian Day, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan, the initiative honours the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and reflects EWEC's dedication to having a meaningful, positive impact within the communities it serves. By partnering with ERC, EWEC has ensured that essential food supplies reached beneficiary families, providing practical support that enables them to observe the Holy Month with dignity and ease.
In alignment with the UAE's 2026 ‘Year of the Family’, the initiative focused on the family unit as the cornerstone of a cohesive society. Each Iftar box is designed to bring families together at the end of their fast, fostering the spirit of solidarity and compassion that defines both Ramadan and the values of the nation.
Dr. Faisal Obaid, Chief Corporate Support Officer at EWEC, said: “Zayed Humanitarian Day serves as a poignant reminder of the UAE’s enduring commitment to compassion and the welfare of others. As we celebrate the Year of the Family in 2026, our donation of Family Iftar Boxes aims to support the social fabric of our community by easing the pressures on families during this sacred time. Through our partnership with the Emirates Red Crescent, we are proud to uphold the values of generosity and social responsibility that are at the heart of what we do at EWEC."
The donated Family Iftar Boxes, containing essential food supplies, were delivered to beneficiary families across Abu Dhabi, bringing practical relief and a gesture of solidarity during the Holy Month. This initiative forms part of EWEC's broader corporate social responsibility programme, which seeks to support and uplift communities across the UAE.
As EWEC continues to accelerate the UAE’s energy transition, it remains equally focused on embodying its values of collaboration, innovation, integrity and sustainability that are enabling positive change and shaping a greener future.
